an explorative and experimental photographic project consolidated during the my first year of university study. the project's aim was to explore and understand varying representations of the contemporary self-image, when women are stripped away of what allows them to feel comfortable. it also considers the female body in relation to the male-gaze, censorship and the expectations placed on women to conform. i photographed two other women to begin with, with the conclusion of the project being a self-portrait series shot on 35mm film. by using this process, in combination with the intimate nature of the photographs, the work forced me to confront uncomfortable truths whilst taking the position of subject rather than voyeur.
