‘feel’ is an evolving multimedia project centred upon the lives of ordinary women in southampton, past and present. it seeks to embody their voices as a visceral, shifting presence which considers how women’s histories are held within both body and landscape: how memory can linger in architecture, echo through ancient streets, and remain present even where historical records are absent, fragmented or deliberately overlooked.

 

rooted in conjecture and symbolism, the work resists clarified description, instead fostering an embodied, emotive language. framing voice as presence, and listening as an act of reclamation, ‘feel’ draws attention to the inherited experiences carried within both body and place, holding space for complex intergenerational landscapes and those lost to history.

 

through deliberate acts of viewing and listening, ‘feel’ invites audiences to attune to the unseen, the unheard, and the deeply felt—occupying the threshold between testimony and stifling.
